Abstract

The genus Russula Le Maire, is represented in Costa Rica by 44 taxa, seven of which are here described as new: R. atroamethystina,R. crucensis, R. eperythra, R. rolfeana and R. sancti-ramonensis, R. subcrustosa, R. thapsina. All the new taxa are ectomycorrhizal with species of Quercus. A synoptic list of the known Costa Rican species is provided.
