Abstract

The pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a benign, hyperplastic lesion is considered an exaggerated response of tissues to low-intensity traumas. It can affect both skin and mucous membranes. In oral cavity PG predilection for the gingiva rarely it extragingival in lips, tongue, buccal mucosa, palate. Predominates in females and more frequently in the second decade of life. It is associated with hormonal changes during puberty and pregnancy. It is presented as a smooth or lobulated exophytic growth, sessile or pedunculated base, the color varies from red, purple or pink depending on the vascularity of the lesion. Usually it grows slowly and bleeds easily. Conventional treatments include surgical excision, removal of irritants and trauma in the area. The PG removed during pregnancy recurs more easily. The appearance of satellitosis is rare. The aim of this paper is to present a case of recurrent extragingival PG located in lower lip mucosa of a pregnant patient and then in postpartum period.
