ABSTRACT

The Pabellón Deshabitado is a territorial manifestation of the Transmedia Desahbitado Project. An installation developed in the latter part of 2012 by Repúbica Portátil , a creative company formed by architects and designers together with the cinematic producers Terkofilms. Deshabitado, developed as a story and short film focused on the fantastic genre, is the account of an empty city in ruins. It proposes an imagery of the existing territory in crisis in the city of Concepción and derives towards the transmedia, seeking to make the story travel through different supports and platforms. Thus, it utilizes cinema, architecture and the story in the construction of a web-site, a printed book, an exposition in an art gallery and a temporary installation in the center of the city. This last intervention resulted in the raising of Pabellón Deshabitado, a temporary building of 8 x 8 x 8 meters which sheltered, for seven days, the activities generated by the transmission and territorial positioning of the project.
